What Is Tantra: An Introduction
I didn’t come into this work because everything in my life was perfect - quite the opposite. I went through deep childhood trauma, things that disconnected me from my body, my truth, and my sense of self.
In my early 20s, I pushed myself hard to get out of a really bad situation. I built a luxury business in London, hit high goals, and from the outside, everything looked amazing. But on the inside, I was crashing. I lost everything and experienced a health scare. And in the middle of that collapse, I realized something that would change my life: I was completely numb. I couldn’t feel pleasure, joy, or even real sadness. I just felt… nothing.
One day I went for a walk, cleared my mind, and asked the universe what I was meant to study next. The word Tantra dropped into my head, and I followed it. At age 24, I began studying at the Tantric Journey School in London, and I’ve never looked back. That was nine years ago, and this path has been transforming me ever since.
I have managed to let go of all the addictions that were gripping my life. I healed my health issues, from cancerous cells to reoccurring UTIs. I improved every single relationship in my life. I learned how to say no and speak my truth gently and strong. I no longer accepted abuse. My sleep became deeper, my concentration improved, and I no longer experienced the same lows of depression or the numbness that once clouded my days. I felt levels of pleasure I never thought possible, and ended up looking even younger than I did at age 18. Because of how it transformed my life, I have dedicated my life to teaching others about Tantra.
What is Tantra?
Tantra is a deeply embodied path of healing, awakening, and presence. At its core, it’s not just about sex, it’s about energy. Tantra teaches us how to feel, transform, and expand our life force through the body. It brings awareness into parts of us that are numb, stuck, or suppressed, and helps us reconnect with our full, sensual, emotional, spiritual selves. It brings us to the root of our issues using our own sexual energy/ life force energy. It activates our creative healing energy vital for a high quality life. Through breath, presence, touch, and intention, we learn to move this energy through the body, awakening hidden layers of pain, pleasure, power, and peace.
There is a famous book called The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, which explains that trauma doesn’t just live in the mind, it lives in the body. When we go through pain or abuse, the body holds on to those memories, even long after the mind has tried to move on. This is why talk therapy alone often isn’t enough; we have to include the body in the process. Learning this has helped me understand why I had felt so disconnected for so long and why, once I began working through the body with Tantric practices, everything started to shift. The emotions, sensations, and aliveness I had shut down began to return.
In my own journey, Tantra helped me unfreeze parts of myself that were buried under trauma and numbness. I’ve used these teachings not just as a practice, but as a way of life, a compass for love, self-connection, and liberation.
What the World Thinks Tantra Is (And Why That’s a Problem)
Tantra is often misunderstood. In the West, it’s been reduced to erotic massage or spiritualised sex work, filled with glossy photos and seductive language. But that’s not what real Tantra is. Tantra is a way of life, a path of presence, connection, and deep embodiment. It’s not about performance, it’s about presence. It’s about honouring every emotion, including the messy ones, and reconnecting to your body in a way that’s real, raw, and transformative.
The version of Tantra I practice is about living life in the fullest way, teaching us ancient techniques for how we’re actually meant to use our bodies, and revealing levels of pleasure most people never knew were even possible.
How Tantra Can Heal the Nervous System
When we live in survival mode for years - pushing, performing, or protecting ourselves from pain - our nervous system forgets what safety feels like. We stay stuck in fight, flight, or freeze, always on guard, always striving. Tantra gently rewires that. Through breath, movement, sound, and conscious touch, Tantra teaches the body that it’s safe to feel again.
Each practice invites the body out of defense and into presence. Slow breathing tells the vagus nerve it’s safe to relax. Gentle movement and sound help release stored tension and emotions that the body has held for years. Safe touch creates new experiences of trust and connection, helping the nervous system regulate in real time.
Over time, the body learns to move from contraction to expansion. The heart opens. The mind quiets. Pleasure, which once felt dangerous or unavailable, becomes a pathway to healing. Tantra doesn’t force the body to change, it reminds the body of what it already knows: how to rest, how to receive, and how to return to wholeness.
How I Use Tantra in My Therapy
The core of my work is rooted in authentic Tantric principles based on the teachings of Mal Weeraratne at Tantric Journey in London, where I trained and studied for years. From this foundation, I’ve created a therapeutic system that merges Tantra with somatic therapy, neuroscience, brain reprogramming, Taoist philosophy, and deep emotional release. My approach gets to the root of disease, because I don’t just look at symptoms; I listen to the body, the breath, the pain, and the energy.
In my sessions, I want you to come to me and let go of the pressure to fix yourself. You don’t have to quit the addiction, get rid of the illness, or force yourself out of a habit right away. That constantly running and chasing transformation can feel overwhelming. Instead, I focus on what we can actually bring in. And this is where Tantra becomes so powerful, because it teaches us how to use our own life force, our sexual energy, to activate and move energy in parts of the body that have been shut down or forgotten.
Your body is a perfect vehicle - not something broken, not something designed to decay. Tantric teachings show us how to use this body we’ve been gifted and are temporarily borrowing, not by cutting off pieces of it at the first sign of a symptom, but by activating the dormant parts. When you learn to move energy and harness your own power, you begin to heal from the inside out, naturally, sensually, and with deep respect for your body’s wisdom.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t pretend to know everything. I’m still on this journey myself. I don’t teach anything I haven’t personally been through, and I don’t claim to understand it all. But the core of my therapy is about staying open. Trusting that the universe knows what you need, . That you know what you need. And that I’m simply here to assist. In my sessions, I don’t think - , I allow the practice to flow. I drop into presence, let go of judgment, and bring in pure love, stillness, and support when it’s needed. I trust that you will receive exactly the healing you need.
Everything shifts when you begin to release and bring in higher levels of pleasure, because that pleasure rewires your thought patterns, dissolves old behaviours, and releases stored trauma. And as you feel that pleasure, you might cry too, because all the pain that once kept you stuck is finally moving out. It’s a beautiful, powerful experience.
As you begin to hold a higher frequency of pleasure, your entire life transforms. The people and experiences you’re drawn to start to change, and what you allow into your world naturally begins to align with that new vibration. Your energy expands, your body rejuvenates, and even your cells awaken with renewed life force. You start to feel more like yourself—clear, vibrant, and alive. Your true essence begins to emerge, your innate gifts come online, and the world around you appears brighter, richer, and more full of possibility. In this frequency, your whole reality shifts.
In this space, you actually have someone with you, feeling it with you, guiding you, loving you in your darkest moments, with absolutely no judgment and unconditional love. This is something that not many therapies offer, and I truly believe it’s something every human on this planet deserves.
